Selvaria Bles - Alter's Bikini Clad Commander

Hello boys and girls! Today I have a post about one of my favorite female characters, Selvaria Bles by Alter. You might know her from games like Valkyria Chronicles, or Valkyaria Chronicles 2, or Valyria... 3, well you get the idea.

As I already mention Selvaria is from the video game series Valkyria Chronicles, which is developed by SEGA, and she's a design by Raita Honjou for the games. The games are a sort of strategy/action mix that works very well and I'd highly recommend them.

You might notice that this Selvaria's face and overall style looks quite different from the older Alter Selvaria with lance and shield. It's seems to me that this is because this one is made with reference to one of Raita's sketches directly, while the other one seems to be more akin to the 3D model of her from the games. Interestingly enough the original sketch included a summer hat and beach ball. I think I would have like that better since it gives her a more summer-y and soft look, rather than the weird shower head thing. She is sculpted by Yagyuu Toshiyuki which has done number of other figures which I find very appealing. There was also a limited edition version of this figure with white bikini rather than black.

Whenever Raita draws her, her eyes become intense, serious, but melancholic almost sad as well. I think this better fits her character best. In contrast others will make her come off as simply an angry and domineering drill sergeant, which is pretty far removed from how she really is. Selvaria is a woman with a troubled past and is trying to cope with her life by doing her duty as a soldier, not an S&M queen trying to destroy the world.

I think this warm feeling was translated well into the figure, as her eyes and face are quite beautiful.

You probably already noticed but, Selvaria has enormous tits, which is not a deterring factor in the slightest. As a very nice detail, here you can see the bikini top pressing against the breast to create an indentation on the flesh.

You can also appreciate how the breast begins near the arm pit and on the upper chest and flows down on to the actual mass of the breast. On the upper part of the breast you can see that the skin has separated from the cloth, leaving behind a tense golden string that seems to barely be able to contain the weight. These details really give a sence of weight to her bosom making it feel more life-like.

Her hair is of a blueish silver color instead of the usual silver, almost white, that she is usually portrayed in. This doesn't really bother me since whenever she has her powerful Valkyria aura her hair glows with a blue outline, so this color seems natural to me. The hair is also quite soft and each strand can bend quite a bit. I don't think I saw any seam lines either, as far as figure hair goes, Selvaria's is pretty damn beautiful.

Her abdomen is actually pretty well toned, she's a soldier after all. Here you can also see her fancy belt which is supposed to be for the sheath of her sword.

It connects to that belt thing with shiny gold patterns. You can see the hole where the peg goes into. You can also see her wonderfully nice buttocks and delightfully plump legs.

The sword has been inserted.

Her sandals follow the same gold pattern on black background. You can also see the finely sculpted feet and painted toenails. She connects to the base only though the peg on the rock beneath her foot here. The base also has a little seashell which is surprisingly soft.

While she only connects with one peg the was is sculpted so that it fits almost perfectly into her lovely bottom. This and the fact that she's holding on to the shower head with her right hand makes her very stable.

Her outfit has the imperial army sigil and is in its colors. She even has a choker very similar to her battle uniform. Makes me wonder if the imperial army has an official swimsuit uniform. Hmm maybe the empire is not that bad after all.

Selvaria seems to be ready for battle even when taking time off on the beach.

She even has a backup knife just in case.

Overall I really liked this figure. I was a little hesitant that her proportions would be a little too ridiculous but once I had her with me I thought she looked good. Very darn good actually. Writing this has reminded me of just how much I liked Valkyria Chronicles and how much I liked her as well.

Till next time~

New year, new loot

Not a bad loot to start off this year with. To start off on the figure side I got straight front the front lines in the war against pants Miyafuji Yoshika from Strike Witches.

From the epilogue of chapter of Persona 3: FES comes Metis, Aigis' little sister. I talked about the Persona franchise a bit last year.

Finally there is the well known Asuka in her lovely test type plug suit. While not a big fan of Evangelion I still liked both Asuka and Rei, specially Asuka after her display in the movies with the finale.

Also picked up the figma version of Biri Biri that just so happens comes with a game as an extra. From what I seen the game is a decent fighting game.

On the gaming side I picked up Killer 7 from the eccentric Suda 51, the man responsible of the recent No More Heroes games on the Wii.

I picked up Nier an action RPG that was released last year that has become a cult hit. I been hearing good feedback about the game from various sources so I thought to pick it up when I saw it on sale for a mere $15.

Ghost Trick is a game I had been looking forward for a while, after all it comes from the people responsible for the popular Ace Attorney series. Interesting game play mechanics, full of style and clever dialogue just as the afformentioned Ace Attorney games and I was sold on it.

I talked about the Valkyria Chronicle pins I got as a prize from Radiant already.

The last item is a mouse pad featuring Biri Biri and Kuroko, I must say though, I'm a bit disappointed. This mouse pad is way smaller than I thought it would be and also way thinner than I thought it would be. 1mm, that's how thick it is. Doesn't feel like a mouse pad at all.

There you have it, the first loot to start off 2011's loots.

Thanks Radiant!

Radiant is such a cool guy. I'm such a bad prize winner, I received this price from Radiant like two weeks ago. A prize for what you might ask? For making a comment, in this post.

You should head over and check his blog. He posts this nice combination of figure pictures, drawing videos, some slice of life and my personal favorite the more serious posts looking at Otaku culture.

Radiant's recent post about Otaku fashion is a good example of the latter.

Once more I will make a plug for the wonderful series that is Valkyria Chronicles. An excellent mix of strategy, third person action, and a unique artistic presentation. You can easily find the first game for less than $20 on most places that sell video games.

I look forward to have the third entry of the series that goes back to a story style more similar to the first game. Although I should probably go back and finish up the second game.

I sure played a lot of games last year...

... and you know what? I don't think it was enough. That's the stack of games I finished last year.

Several things to mention, Halo and Perfect Dark are missing as I played the Xbox 360 digital versions of those games. While the Metroid Prime Trilogy is in the picture I only finished Metroid Prime but not 2 or 3. Peace Walker has an extra chapter to play through after the credits roll so your mileage may vary whether I finished that game or not.

In total, I finished 27 games last year, my personal best. Usually I finish about half or a little less than that number.

However, most of those games I bought this year but that's not all of the games I bought. Just take a look a my loot posts and see how many games I bought last year.

Plus, I have literally hundreds of games in my backlog. My backlog spans at least three generations, both consoles, handhelds and PC. The games spread across seven different consoles and three different handhelds.

That's why I said even though I never played as many games in one year before it was not nearly enough.

I seriously own and buy too many games. I wonder though, how much more would I buy if I didn't buy figures as well.

I wont even bother complaining anymore!!!

Instead I will just happily talk about my latest loot.

First up the figures, pretty light this time around with only two figmas.

I'm happy to say my After School Teatime band is complete with the arrival of Azusa. Even if Mio and Yui kinda made me angry at their sudden sale at the beginning of the year.

I don't particularly like BRS but I did enjoy the OVA and was pleased to see it included with the figma. Now why did I buy BRS? Simple, you can't have Black Rock Shooter without Dead Master and vice versa.

Technically I only got one book this time the third volume of Otacool since I had Spicy Wolf volume 1 for a while. Just kept forgetting to include it in the pictures.

As far as Otacool 3 I liked this theme, workspaces around the world is pretty cool. Plus I got featured this time since unlike Otacool 1 and 2 I was able to participate.

I didn't wanna buy Spicy Wolf at first because of that cover fiasco and what not. I ended picking up the second volume on a whim so I decided to buy the first too. Rightsuf had the dust jacket with the original artwork so I bought it in the end.

I kinda wish it had been like the Haruhi novels, one version with the original cover and one with whatever the publisher wanted. I suppose the dust jacket approach is fine too.

I do however, wish there had been consistency. First volume has the original artwork on the jacket and not the novel itself. For the second volume it was reversed, dust jacket with western cover and original artwork on the novel itself.

I recently played through the story mode on BlazeBlue: Calamity Trigger and after becoming invested on all the characters and the cliffhanger ending I needed to play more. So, I went and bought Continuum Shift to continue the story.

The sequel added gameplay tweaks, stages, modes, characters and a continuation of the story. I played it through and look forward to the next game as well as the new DLC characters.

As far as Resonance of Fate I wanted to buy it since it was released but that month saw me buy Final Fantasy 13 and Yakuza 3 among other things making it not feasible at the time.

When Amazon had it for half price I jumped the gun and bought myself a copy.

On the Xbox side I picked up three games.

I been hearing many good things about Lost Odyssey lately so I got it used for a nice $10. Game is pretty much new so not bad when I see it for $30.

Battle Fantasia is a fighting game by Arc System Works, the developers behind Guilty Gear and BlazBlue. Although available on PSN I wanted a physical copy plus it was originally made for the Xbox 360 in the first place.

Ah, updates are nice, Jet Set Radio Future and Sega GT play just fine in my 360 unlike the one I tried them on before.

Should pick up an original Xbox one of these days.

For the PS2 I picked up Nightshade a spin off the well regarded Shinobi series from the Mega Drive/Genesis days.

Disaster Report is this interesting game where you make your way through a city wide disaster as several characters. Interestingly enough the actions of one character affects the ones that come after them. This game has a sequel in the form of Raw Danger on the PS2 and an announced third game on the PSP.

For the PSP I bought Valkyria Chronicles 2, sequel to the Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3. Just buy both games.

The PSP version has all the well designed gameplay of the original plus several new additions.

Yggdra Union originally released on the GBA and was ported to the PSP. Tactical RPG goodness on the go. If you buy Knights in the Nightmare for PSP you can get Yggdra Union as a free PSN download.

Finally, Sega Tennis 2k2. I see this pop up on worthwhile Dremacast games to play lists so I got it. For a buck, sealed.

It's tennis on the Dreamcast, nothing else I can say.

That's it for now anyways.
